Which international airlines service Belize?
American Airlines operates daily flights from Miami, FL and Dallas, TX.
Continental Airlines operates two daily flights from Houston, TX and a Saturday flight from Newark, NJ.
US Air operates a daily flight from Charlotte, NC.
Delta Airlines operates a daily flight from Atlanta, GA and a Saturday flight from Los Angeles, CA.
TACA Airlines operates a daily flight from Houston, TX and a daily flight connecting through El Salvador.
Are passports required?
Yes, passports are mandatory along with proof of return.
Visas are not required from the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.
Did you know that you should always travel with a photocopy of your passport?
If your original gets lost this will facilitate the replacement process.
How do we get from the International Airport to Caye Caulker?
You can fly or take a water taxi.
Flights cost $55.00 US one way or $105.00 US round trip.
Scheduled flight times to Caye Caulker from the International airport are :40 minutes after the hour, every hour.
The last scheduled flight is 4:40 PM.
The flight time is 15 minutes.
We're an agent for Tropic Air so we can arrange your flights and you simply pay us when you checkout of our place.
If you would prefer to travel by boat you would first take a taxi cab from the International airport to the Marine Terminal in Belize City.
The cost is $25.00 flat (not per person) for 2 persons and the ride is about 20 minutes.
We can arrange for our taxi driver in Belize City to meet you at the airport and drive you to the Marine Terminal.
Then you simply catch the next boat to Caye Caulker.
Boats depart at 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:00 NOON, 1:30 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:30 and 5:30 PM every day of the year. The cost of the water taxi is $10.00 US one way or $17.50 US round trip and it takes 45 minutes to get here.
You cannot arrange water taxi rides in advance.

When we arrive on the island how do we get to the Iguana Reef Inn?
If you arrive by water taxi:
We're located about 1/4 mile from the Water Taxi dock or about a 10 minute walk.
If you would like help with your luggage you can use one of the local porters with bicycle carts or hop on one of the taxi cabs (golf carts) that meet the arriving water taxis.
The cost for each is $2.50 US per person.
If you arrive at the airstrip:
If a taxi cab (golf cart) is not already waiting for incoming flights simply ask one of the agents for the airline to call one.
We're located about 3/4 mile from the airstrip so it's about a 10 minute taxi ride.
What is the electrical system?
Same as the United States. Standard 110 volts, A.C. current so any electrical devices that you bring down (e.g., blow dryers) will operate normally without any special adapters.
If you do not wish to bring down a blow dryer we have a couple in the office that our guests can use during their stay with us.
Are credit cards and travelers checks widely accepted?
Visa, Mastercard, travelers checks and US dollars are widely accepted.
A number of businesses do add on a percentage (generally 5%) to use credit cards.
The exchange rate is set at 2 BZ dollars to 1 US dollar.
There is also an ATM at the local bank (Atlantic Bank) that dispenses Belize dollars.
Plan on spending your Belize dollars before you leave the country because they are difficult to exchange outside of Belize.
Is there a beach area and swimming nearby?
There is a very nice, well-maintained beach right here at the Iguana Reef Inn.
The beach features lounge chairs, umbrellas and easy access to the water.
A great place to enjoy a drink and catch our magnificent sunsets.
The swimming is typical for Caye Caulker - shallow waters out to about 300 feet, sand floor with some seagrass.
We are also maintaining a small reef system nearby featuring a variety of sea life.
Is there a restaurant at the Inn?
Our property does not have a restaurant, we have a bar open daily until 9:00PM.
The complimentary continental breakfast is served at the bar from 7:00 until 10:00.
During your stay with us we invite you to experience our restaurant "Don Corleone" featuring Italian and seafood specialties that are sure to please the most discriminating pallet.
Many of our pasta dishes are created using fresh homemade pasta by our Italian chef.
And of course, the seafood is as fresh as it gets ... direct from our backyard, the Caribbean Sea.
We have carefully chosen the wines to compliment your meal and present it all in a warm, candlelit atmosphere a few yards from the sea.
Don Corleone is a short walk, about 10 minutes, from the Inn.
Are there safes in the room?
Each room is equipped with a small hotel safe that allows you to set your own access code.
They can easily store small personal items ... documents, cash, jewelry and cameras.
For your security we encourage you to use the safes.
Are there golf cart and/or bicycle rentals nearby?
There are a few places on the island where you can rent golf carts and bicycles.
One of the rental agencies is located about a hundred yards from our property.
Golf cart rentals cost about $20 BZ/hr, $125 BZ/day and $550 BZ/wk.
Bicycle rentals cost about $4 BZ/hr, $15 BZ/day and $60 BZ/wk.
These rates are estimates and vary slightly depending on the rental agency.
Which tours are available?
We don't actually operate tours out of the Inn but we work closely with local tour operators and guides for diving, snorkeling, fishing and we will also arrange inland trips to Mayan ruins, the Belize Zoo, etc.

For diving we recommend that you contact Paradise Down Dive Shop (email: paradisedown@btl.net) and/or Frenchie's Diveshop (email: frenchies@btl.net).
They both operate quality, full service dive shops that include local dives, outer atoll dives (e.g., the famous Blue Hole) and full certification and open water referral courses.
Prices vary depending on the site so please contact the shops for pricing information.

For snorkeling you have a choice of full day trips to the Hol Chan Marine Park and Shark/Ray Alley or half day trips to the local reef near Caye Caulker.
You can also choose between small power boats or sailboats.
Or plan a full day trip to the Manatee Reserve and snorkeling at Goff's Caye.
Plan on spending about $50.00 USD for the full day trips and $25.00 USD for the half day trips.

For fishing we can set you up with guides depending on your fishing skill level.
You can troll and bottom fish inside the reef for barracuda, snapper, jacks etc. or outside the reef for larger fish like wahoo, kingfish and sailfish.
If flyfishing or light spinning on the flats for bonefish, permit and tarpon is your preference we can arrange that as well.
Plan on spending $200 USD for a half day of fishing and $300 USD for a full day.

There are also a number of mainland day trips available from Caye Caulker.
Three Mayan Ruin sites are easily accessible: Altun Ha, Xunantunich and Lamanai.
Each ruin is quite different and we won't get into the differences here.
You can research the ruins on your own or contact us for some additional information.
Plan on spending about $100 USD per person for a Mayan Ruin day trip.
The Belize Zoo is also a popular day trip (actually half day) from Caye Caulker.
It is also included in the Xunantunich Mayan Ruin tour.
Plan on spending about $45 USD per person for the standalone zoo trip and that includes the admission fee.
Cave tubing is also a favorite inland day trip.
You have the opportunity to explore ancient cave systems floating down an underground river system.
The cost of the cave tubing day trip is about $100 USD per person.
Are sea kayaks available on the island?
Here at the Inn we have Ocean Kayak sit-on-top sea kayaks available for rent.
We have 2 double kayaks and 2 single kayaks.
The cost is $15 BZ/hr for a single kayak and $20 BZ/hr for double kayaks , with discounts available for 3 or more hours.
